The SHL Sunstone Analytics process helps to reduce subjectivity and bias that can come from a manual review of application data. SHL uses a best-practice validation approach to find risks of adverse impact within the Sunstone algorithm and remove or reduce this risk in advance. This is done by scoring past applicants using the Sunstone algorithm and looking at the pass rates (i.e. selection ratios) for adverse impact by race and gender. If the risk of adverse impact is found, the algorithm can be altered.
